The Emperor of the Sands

About Azir

Azir, The Emperor of the Sands, is a powerful mage, marksman, and specialist champion in League of Legends who is mostly played in midlane of Summoner's Rift. First released on September 16, 2014 during Patch 4.16, Azir has become known for their ranged playstyle and magical damage output.

With 7 unique skins available, Azir offers plenty of customization options for players who enjoy this champion. Azir has a good amount of skins, including some really nice reimaginings of the character.

As a champion who uses Mana as their resource, Azir brings a unique set of abilities to League of Legends that makes them a great champ for any team comp.

Gameplay style

Azir is primarily played as a mage/marksman/specialist, leveraging their ranged combat style to dominate in midlane. Since their release in Patch 4.16, players have come up with a bunch of different strategies and builds to maximize Azir's potential.

As a magical-focused champion who uses Mana to cast their abilities, Azir requires players to carefully manage their resources while positioning effectively to deal maximum damage. The champion's design makes them particularly effective against grouped enemies with AoE abilities and burst damage.

Azir's story

Azir was a mortal emperor of Shurima in a far distant age, a proud man who stood at the cusp of immortality. His hubris saw him betrayed and murdered at the moment of his greatest triumph, but now, millennia later, he has been reborn as an Ascended being of immense power. With his buried city risen from the sand, Azir seeks to restore Shurima to its former glory.
